Re: MY SCREEN MINIMIZING SPONTENOUSLY

Seems this problem continues to happen. Its been happening on my Sony Vaio Touchscreen, much to my annoyance. I installed a program that logged what background program was constantly minimizing my screen. (every 5 to 10 minutes) It turned out that it was coming from the sensor on the bottom left of my touchscreen. Generally you touch that point on the screen if you want to minimize programs and return to the desktop. It was periodically being triggered WITHOUT me touching it. I first turned off the mechanism that enables the touch sensitivity (In the Control Panel)  and the problem disappeared, so it was definitely coming from something related to the touch sensitivity. I turned the screen sensitivity back on and the problem returned.

I then took a screenwipe and cleaned the area over the sensor and it stopped misbehaving. Some dirt was evidently periodically triggering it. Its now behaving just fine.

Hi, sorry for asking something so old, but mine does exactly the same thing since I switched to Windows 7, I wonder if you could solve it or was it a hardware problem? Thanks

Driver Installation Problem GeForce 8600M GT/ Windows 7 Pro /

Hello,

i ran into some driver installation problems, hopefully you can point me to the correct way to solve these,...

1. Nvidia Graphic card driver installation problem, from its Nividia website, i was to find a 64 bits version driver for my GeForce 8600M GT driver, manually downloaded, however, I am unable to finish the installation, I also tried to use one of their auto update software but somehow it could not open correctly....( see photos)

2. I also notice, when i open the "My computer", it does not show my optical drive and SD card drive icon, looks like I am missing the drivers?

3. I tried using Sony's own website to download the drivers I need, but they all are Vista's and 32 bits based, any suggestions....Please....Thank you in advance...

Hi Chunky,

Welcome to Sony Community!

May I know what is the model number and the current operating system of your VAIO laptop? I'm confused about what are you trying to do?  The subject says "How to boot safe mode?" yet you are already in Safe Mode. Do you want to exit in Safe Mode?

Hi NatCerVaio,

Welcome to Sony Community!

The model VGN-CS215J doesn't have drivers and software support for Windows 10 operating system. Upgrading this model to the latest operating system without any driver support will lead to limited functions and features. If you are okay with that limitation then you may stay with Windows 10 or you may go back to your previous operating system.

We highly recommend visiting our Sony Global Web site for information on contacting the Sony Support Center in your region at http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/Support/ to assist you with this issue.

Jen

I need to have a number where I can call to complain about the technical service provided for the  Sony Vaio Laptop. I called the number from the website 888-476-6972. I have called three times in the last 24 hours. I have a case number. They would not help me unless I paid $99. I tried paying on 6 different occassions, something was wrong with their payment system,  I talked to three different people in a 24 hour period it was very frusturating. I have the case number etc. They ran my card 6 times and it would not work. They would not help me even though I was on the phone for a total of 3 hours on 3 different calls. So frustrating. i asked to talk to a supervisor, none was available, they said a supervisor would call m. No one did. the last agent snarkily said we are not affiliated with Sony, just go to Best Buy. What great customer service? Who do I call to complain about this service?

Thanks

Hi, Jennifer62978

Welcome to Sony Community!

It is possible that the recovery partition of your computer is already corrupted and not accessible anymore. But based on your post, there are still ways for us to isolate this issue. You may follow my suggestions below:

  • Boot the computer to Safe Mode. Instead of pressing Assist button, try this:
    • Restart the computer.
    • While it is restarting, keep tapping F8 key
    • If the unit boots to Advanced Boot Options, choose Safe Mode.

  • Boot the computer to Last Known Good Configuration:
    • Follow the previous steps, select Last Known Good Configuration instead of Safe Mode.

  • Reset the computer to factory setting using the recovery discs:

Hope these help.

Regards,

Vincent

How do I get to Graphics Card menu within BIOS setup--VGN-AR770 ?

How do I get to Graphics Card menu within the BIOS setup-VGN-AR770?

Laptop OS was Vista 32 bits Ultimate, now switched to 64 bits Windows 7 Professional-fresh installation.

Problem: Nividia GeForce 8600M GT graphics card cannot be detected, it seems to me it is now running on genetic driver, as screen saver is not working as well.

I downloaded Nvidia 64 bits driver but installation failed, saying cannot detect compatible product. And Sony's website drivers update for my laptop only has drivers for Vista 32 bits available.

I searched online 1 suggestion popped up, saying going to graphics card menu within the BIOS setup, select "switchable" instead of Integrated option, but i cannot find it.

Can anyone shows me how to get the Nvidia driver installation complete? Thank you

Thank you for your advice.

I tried the F8 option but computer would not load to the Recovery/Boot/etc menu. It would just give me the blue screen with the error and then saying it was restarting and attempting to fix the errors and then it would go to blank screen.

For the same reason was not able to get computer to boot to last known good configuration.

When in the menu, cannot use F10 function at all. Computer goes to black screen.

As for entering BIOS and booting from the optical drive with the disk in the drive it says operating system not found.

The disks I have are the set I created when I first got the laptop and are for Windows 8. The laptop won’t load the info from the disks.

Any other suggestions?

Hi Emerald_Dragon,

Welcome to Sony Community!

Did you replace the hard disk drive? If so, then you can't use F10 since there is nothing in it. You need to purchase a VAIO recovery disc to reinstall all the drivers and software that came with the unit. You may contact Encompass to check the availability of this recovery disc. You may also refer to the link below for further details.

if you have issues using your Intel integrated graphics card and have an additional, dedicated graphics card in your computer, you can change your settings so that the dedicated card will be used by Serato Video for improved performance.
