Hello,
I use Windows 8.1.
Model # SVF14A15CXB
I created a USB recovery drive to use in case of such problems, but when the Toshiba hard drive in my Sony went bad and I tried to use it to recover on the new drive it had problems and wouldn't load. Thus, I had to redownload Windows straight from Microsoft on my Sony Vaio with the Windows serial # that came with my laptop and then I went to this Sony website (https://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model-home.pl?mdl=SVF14A15CXB) for the necessary drivers & software for my model. Unfortunately at this time I noticed that the Sony Creative Software (which as we now know is owned by MAGIX). Now at this point I'm trying to retrieve the software.
Here's what I have to work with:
1. The Sony eSupport page where I should be able to download drivers & software but can't find that one, maybe it's available somewhere else?
2. The Community.sony.com forum? (this one)
3. MAGIX (if they'll ever respond with a correct download link & info for the serial number. They said I could retrieve the serial number from the registry, to which I responded I had all serial numbers on my registry and that wasn't one of them, which is further confirmed here: https://community.sony.com/t5/VAIO-Software-Other-Operating/How-do-I-recover-my-serial-for-Movie-Studio-Plat-12-0-that-came/td-p/569531)
4. An old Toshiba hard drive from my Vaio that I can access sort of like a USB drive now
5. A recovery USB from my original Vaio installation that ended up not working to reinstall windows
6. From my original software installation, I do have the gnsdk_license information if that's helpful with the "client_id". I'm not sure why it would be.
So, what are my options, how can I recover this software? It seems like there would be some sort of link where I can simply verify it with my serial # or something like that.
Thank you,
GW F
