We apologize for the inconvenience. May we know the exact model name and the current operating system of your laptop? What is the brand of your DVD drive? Was it detected before? How about the cable that you purchased, is this a universal cable?
We can't tell yet what is the cause of this issue. We need to do some diagnosis to figure it out. Make sure that this DVD drive is working using the new cable by connecting it to other device.
