If the tabs of the sheets and scroll bars were missing, it means that their settings were disabled in the settings of additional program parameters.
First, check to see whether the Show Sheet Labels option is disabled. Here's how:
For other versions of Excel: select File> Options> Advanced and make sure that the Show sheet labels check box is selected in the Show options for the next book section.
If this does not help, the file may be corrupted, then you need to repair excel file, you can learn more about this here . Good Luck!

1. Turn on your laptop 2. Press the “assist” button on the top right hand corner of the keyboard. This will open Vaio Care 3. There will be a menu on the right hand side of the screen, click “Advanced Tools” 4. Once that item is open click “Restore and Recovery” 5. There will be two items to restore the computer and 2 items to recover the computer. 6. Pick the option that you need. “Recover Computer” will recover your internal drive to its original, factory configuration. Deleting all personal files.

7. After choosing “Recover Computer” the process will begin. Then you will see 3 options pop up. 8. Click the first option “Start Recovery Wizard” 9. Then it will ask: Do you need to rescue your data. I didn’t need to. 10. So click “Skip Rescue” 11. Then it will ask: Are you sure you want to start recovery? Check the box “Yes, I’m Sure” and you’re finished!

Hi,

My story is basically identical to yours.  I just went to Best Buy today; Sony told me that they have the contract to fix all Vaio products.  Except, the Geek Squad guy told me that it's not cost-effective for them to service a computer that's more than 3 years old, and they therefore can't/ won't get the parts needed to fix it.  He recommended that I try buying parts online and fixing it myself, lol.  Since I've already taken it in to be serviced multiple times and everyone has said that everything looks fine / works fine on the inside, I doubt I'm going to find something that was missed by others.  So far, all the solutions on this thread seem to work for a while... and then not.  Most recently, I completely wiped everything off of the computer - reinstalled windows and all programs.  Same problem.  I'm so frustrated because the computer still works great... except for the screen flicker when on battery.  I paid all the extra money for a lightweight ultrabook so that it could be portable... and I haven't really been able to enjoy that feature.  So frustrated.  I really feel that Sony owes us more than this.

Jen, This solution no longer works.  I contacted Sony; they said that Best Buy is currently contracted to service all Vaio products.  I went to Best Buy; they said it isn't cost effective for them to carry parts or service anything over three years old.  I'm furious because I bought an ultrabook for its portability, and my computer is literally unusable due to screen flicker when it runs on battery.  Sony owes us more than this.  I understand that you no longer service computers, but as a company, you should still stand behind your products.  At a minimum, I feel a credit that could be used on other products would help to soften the blow.  - Ryan

Hi Robespeler,

Welcome to Sony Community!

Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall the keyboard driver? If so but the issue still persists, we highly recommend visiting our Sony Global Web site for information on contacting the Sony Support Center in your region at http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/Support/ to assist you with this issue.

Regards,

Jen

Getting updates for PCG-2C1L (VGCLT38E)

Model PCG-2C1L (VGCLT38E) all in one, windows vista

I am working on an old PC, making sure everything is up to date. Normally I would make sure the Bios is the latest, and then do windows and other updates. I noticed on sony support that there are a few newer updates for drivers and other factory software, but no bios updates are listed. On the dozens of PCs I have looked at there have always be at least a couple of Bios updates during its product life, so this is unusual. Next I noticed that windows updates complains that it is not enabled, but that there is something called VAIO update. Before I jump in and try the usual windows updates fixes:

Are there really no Bios updates for this PC?
Should I still be able to run windows updates, or is the sony updates feature supposed to replace that?

OK, I just read in the FAQ that Vaio update is similar to Dell update or HP update, in that it deals with OEM bundled SW. Windows updates still needs to run to keep the OS current.

VAIOTm

I saw a question about this posted in mid-March of 2017, but there was no answer.

A few weeks ago, when I start my Sony Vaio PC running Windows 10 Pro Version 1703, most of the time I get a small, black-filled, window in the upper-right section of my window and a small, green box on my taskbar indicating a utility (I think). It advises me that "VAIOTm is not responding."

It will go away in 20 or 30 seconds and hasn't seemed to cause any problems, but I just wonder if it's indicating some kind of problem.

Thanks...Bill Smart

I guess no one in the Vaio universe knows what VAIOTm is, or if it's not responding when I start up my PC is a problem. Too bad, I thought this group would be savvier than that. Man Sad

Issue with reinstallation of VAIO Update

I am receiving the following error message on my VPCCW16FG, "VAIO Update needs to be reinstalled because a problem has been found".  When I click on reinstall I then get the message "Reinstallation of VAIO Update failed.  VAIO Update may no longer start properly".  Using Windows 7 SP1, 64bit. Does anyone know how to fix this?  Thanks.

fyi There's a thread on this at the VAIO-Windows10 board also. No acknowledgement at all from Sony though.

Sony has sold the computer division in 2015. They may not deliver BIOS updates anymore...

There are 3 described vulnerabilities by systems with Intel CPUs that need to be closed:

  • CVE-2017-5715 (Branch Target Injection)
  • CVE-2017-5753 (Bounds Check Bypass)
  • CVE-2017-5754 (Rogue Data Cache Load)

Microsoft has released a PowerShell script that will allow you to check your system for these vulnerabilities.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4072698/windows-server-guidance-to-protect-against-the-speculative-execution

First you should install all Windows security patches. After that you should install the PowerShell Script (PS version 5.1 / WMF5.1 is necessary) Then test you System. In 99% of all the result looks like this: http://archive.is/rTjBi

The green lines comes through the Windows update. The other red lines can only be "greened" by CPU microcode and an adapted BIOS. I have found a way to flash the microcode but apparently thats not enough. Only on line more is now green: http://archive.is/oHNC1

I'm afraid if SONY does not provide BIOSes, only a BIOS hack can help.
